Different modalities of management of liver abscess

Background: Liver abscess is an acute suppurative infectious disease of liver parenchyma which may be pyogenic, amoebic or tubercular. It can occur due to direct blood spread through enterohepatic circulation ascending infection occurring biliary tree. Aim was evaluate effectiveness various management strategies in the abscess. Methods: a prospective study carried out 100 patients age 12-80 years between 1st December 2021 31st May 2022 who presented general surgery department and diagnosed with Results: 10% cases were treated conservatively antibiotics only, 59% percutaneous needle aspiration, 21% pigtail catheter drainage, open surgical drainage. Conclusions: size less than 5 cm 50 cc managed but >5 need intervention.
